Information

A live, one-day online workshop with Coralee Pringle-Nelson

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), often referred to as "tapping," is an evidence-informed intervention that combines elements of exposure, cognitive reframing, somatic awareness, and acupoint stimulation. EFT has been examined in more than 100 clinical trials and is increasingly being integrated into clinical practice around the world.

This workshop is designed for mental health professionals who want to understand the research supporting EFT, explore current thinking regarding how and why it may be effective, and learn how EFT can be incorporated into trauma-informed clinical practice. Participants will critically examine the evidence base while developing practical skills for working with anxiety, trauma, emotional dysregulation, and other common clinical concerns.

Special attention will be given to distinguishing EFT as a clinical intervention from its broader use in coaching, self-help, and non-clinical settings. Through research review, demonstrations, experiential exercises, and case examples, participants will develop a practical framework for integrating EFT within their existing therapeutic approaches.

Whether you are curious about EFT, considering incorporating it into your practice, or seeking additional tools for working with trauma survivors and other clinically complex presentations, this workshop will provide an opportunity to evaluate EFT within a thoughtful, evidence-informed clinical framework.

What you'll gain

  • A practical understanding of the EFT research literature and its application to clinical practice
  • Greater confidence evaluating EFT as a clinical intervention
  • A practical framework for integrating EFT into existing therapeutic approaches
  • First-hand experience using EFT to address a personally relevant stressor
  • Clinical applications for anxiety, trauma, emotional dysregulation, and other common presenting concerns
  • Increased confidence discussing EFT with clients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals

Learning objectives

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Summarize key findings from the EFT research literature and discuss their relevance to clinical practice.
  • Describe current theories regarding the mechanisms that may contribute to EFT outcomes.
  • Demonstrate the EFT Basic Recipe within a therapeutic session.
  • Apply EFT interventions to clients presenting with anxiety, trauma-related symptoms, and emotional dysregulation.
  • Identify opportunities and considerations for integrating EFT within trauma-informed clinical practice.
